The Goon

'The Goon' of the 308th BG became famous as the plane of its top gunner TSgt. Benko who was credited with 16 Japanese fighters shot down. In early December 1943, returning from a night mission to bomb the docks of Kowloon, the B-24 lost power to two engines and the pilot ordered the crew to bail out. The pilot eventually managed to nurse the plane back to base, but the bombardier and Benko were captured and later executed. This scene depicts this mission.
