24 August 1940, at the height of the Battle of Britain, half a dozen Emils of III./JG26 got into trouble on their way home. Spitfires of 610 Squadron spotted the six Bf109s, shot one down and chased the others all the way to Calais, where they shot down two more. One of them was the third kill for the day of Sgt. Ronald F. Hamlyn, who was to become one of the first RAF pilots to become an ace-in-a-day.
Fw. Artur Beese of JG26 was amongst the two shot down, but survived his crash landing. This scene depicts the chase between the two.
